Youth & Safety Practice Agreement

Please read to understand the use of technology and  and safety practices within the space

Welcome to Dorris Dann Teen Tech Center! This space is designed for you to explore, learn, and create using computers and other creative technology. By entering this space, you agree to follow the rules and responsibilities below to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for everyone. 

1. Respect the Technology and Space

• I will use computers, devices, and equipment carefully and only for their intended purposes. 

• I will not tamper with, damage, or modify hardware, software, or settings without permission. 

• I will keep the space clean by disposing of trash properly and leaving my area tidy. 

 
2. Practice Safe Online Behavior 

• I will follow safe internet practices and not share personal information (such as my full name, address, or passwords) online. 

• I will avoid accessing inappropriate or harmful websites, content, or apps. 

• I will report any suspicious or unsafe online activity to a staff member immediately. 

 
3. Be Respectful to Others 

• I will treat all users, staff, and volunteers with kindness and respect, both in person and online. 

• I will not engage in bullying, harassment, or inappropriate communication in the space or online. 

• I will keep noise levels low to respect others working or learning in the space. 

 
4. Follow Usage Guidelines 

• I will adhere to rules for computer and device usage, including time limits, to ensure fair access for everyone. 

• I will log out of accounts and clear my work from shared devices when finished. 

• I will only use my own accounts and will not attempt to access others’ accounts or files. 

 
5. Protect Privacy and Security 

• I will keep my passwords and login information private and not share them with others. 

• I will not download or install software, apps, or files without staff approval. 

• I will respect the privacy of others by not viewing or sharing their work without permission. 

 
6. Take Responsibility for My Actions 

• I understand that my actions in the technology space, both online and in person, have consequences. 

• If I misuse technology or violate these rules, I may lose access to the space or face other consequences as determined by staff. 

• I will report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to staff immediately. 

 
7. Ask for Help When Needed 

• I will ask staff for assistance if I am unsure how to use equipment, software, or if I encounter a problem. 

• I will participate in any required training or orientation to use the technology space safely and effectively.
